At our guild meeting yesterday we revealed the results of our Ugly Challenge. At a previous meeting we had exchanged fabrics that were ugly in brown paper bags with the promise that we would come back to the October meeting with something made with the fabric. I think that people really picked fabric they had no use for anymore instead of fabric that was truly ugly. The “ugly” fat quarter  I received was pink with little ducks on it.  It seemed to be something appropriate for a child’s clothing or for the kitchen.  So I bought some white linen, ribbon and jumbo sized ric rac (when did ric rac become cool?). And I used the fabric (which was cute after all, not ugly) to make some kind of retro looking kitchen towels; more cute than practical. It was fun seeing how everyone used their ugly fabric.
